1) This forum's Role-Playing proficiency required is: "Advanced". If you can't write multi-paragraph posts containing coherent and creative sentences with adequate grammar, punctuation and capitalization: don't bother.
2) Proper spelling, grammar, capitalization and punctuation is an absolute must. All posts that are not well-written in this context will be edited and the posters warned and punished if the situation does not improve.
In the real world, how you present yourself is often at least as important as what you are trying to present. Even the most qualified candidate is unlikely to receive a job with a big company if he shows up to an interview wearing a ragged t-shirt and jeans. Conversely, a good suit and well pressed slacks can make even a mediocre candidate appear above average to an interviewer. The same is true for posting on the forum. Regardless of what you want to say, people will generally ignore you or not take you seriously if you consistently fail to use proper English. Abbreviations, lack of appropriate white space, erroneous or missing punctuation and poor spelling can (and do) make posts difficult to read or understand. People need to want to read what you have to say! Just as the interviewer will tend to ignore the man in rags, your peers will tend to ignore ragged posts.
3) In IC forum sections - stay on topic and keep posts in proper categories and topics. Also, keep OOC comments to a minimum.
If you need to add some out-of-character information to the general public knowledge, try posting it in the same place where your most recent and most applicable IC post is - avoid making new posts when it's not absolutely necessary. If it's information for just the person/people you're currently interacting with, send them a private message instead.
4) If the information is not available in the environment the character is in, or the character did not already receive this information beforehand in an IC manner, the character does not know it.
Violating this rule is called metagaming. An example of metagaming would be if I were told OOC'ly that there is a secret ability to someone's Zanpaktou, and then suddenly my character in the RP went "Hey, I know you've got a secret ability and I know how to counter it!". Metagaming is considered cheating, and ruins the suspension of belief that could be found in the RP. Another example: a situation of two characters speaking privately in secret about a evil plot, when both have been considered good by the surrounding environment. Any suspicion arising from said surroundings after this event when there is no reason for it would be also considered metagaming. The exact same goes for character biographies and Zanpaktou abilities, etc.. If you haven't seen them or heard about them in some form - you don't know them, so you have to make sure there's an element of surprise in store for your character.
5) This is a Multi-Paragraph roleplay site. That means no one-liners.
Think about what you're trying to say and rewrite it, adding as many details as you can think of. It is much easier for the people you interact with to reply to a well-written long post rather than a short, bleak sentence describing the very basics of your character's actions.
6) No flaming. No harassing. No insulting. No discrimination. No spamming. No advertising through pm's. Self-explanatory.
7) No god-moding. You are not all-powerful. "Power-players" will not be tolerated.
This also means NO FORCED HITS! Everything can be dodged (but be reasonable!). Even if you have the other character silenced, chained, and gagged, you must still attempt any action against them rather than stating it. That is unless they give you permission otherwise beforehand. You can not say if something you do affects another character or not. You can only attempt an action that would directly affect or harm another character. Bad example: "The swordsman suddenly pulls his sword from its scabbard and swings it violently from left to right, aiming its deadly arc in an attempt to connect with foe's neck. The blade strikes true and crimson blood from mutilated veins and arteries bursts into the air." Good example: The swordsman suddenly pulls his sword from its scabbard and swings it violently from left to right, aiming its deadly arc in an attempt to connect with foe's neck. He hopes, of course, to remove the subject of his anger's head..." This way you are still giving the other person a chance to dodge.
8) Respect other people and their characters. Also, remember you are not allowed to act as another person's character unless they have given you permission to do so.
9) Have fun. Yep, this is a rule.
10) All members are allowed to have a maximum of five characters.
11) IF YOU DISRESPECT STAFF IN ANY WAY YOU WILL BE BANNED
I cannot be more serious with this rule. When an admin or moderator speaks - he/she is not to be challenged with any kind of bad attitude, I don't care what you think, say or feel. If you disrespect myself or the other Staff Members you will be banned without remorse. I have exercised this on more than one occasion, I am not afraid to do so again. If you don't like this rule - tough shit, I'm being selfish in saying that this is MY site. I created it, meaning that everybody here who is not staff are guests. Playing on this site is not a right, meaning that I will strip away your access if you decide to not bite your tongue and accept whatever Staff says. We're fine with being your friends, but do not ever try to argue or disrespect any of us because you WILL, without a shadow of a doubt, be banned.
12a.) Maximum signature size is 420 x 150 pixels. (width x height). 12b.) Maximum avatar size is 200 x 250 pixels. (width x height). The image cannot be scaled by proboards, this must be its original size, otherwise it will get messed up and show up too big regardless of the scaling. 12c.) Maximum width of images in character profile threads is 450 pixels. Pictures that go past that width will either be scaled down or converted to links. 12d.) No additional images in regular posts will be permitted. The only exceptions to this rule are the Affiliation / Advertisements threads. You may also add an image into a RP thread if you feel a description of something you're trying to use in your RP does not do it justice, or you are having trouble describing it properly. The maximum width of these images is, again, 450 pixels. 12e.) Only restricted additional formatting is permitted in posts. You may only use bold, italics and colors as means of differing important parts of your RP posts, not as a tool to "make it prettier". No other formatting is allowed (yes, that means no blockquotes). 12f.) Absolutely no additional formatting is allowed in character/kidou application posts. You have to follow the provided template.
The administration reserves the right to add to/edit these rules. Not knowing the rules does not mean you will be spared punishment if you break any of them. By joining the forum you agree to all of our rules automatically and you are expected to follow them.
